Who was missing from The Expendables?

Firstly, I want to say...great job Sly.

Getting toghether all those stars was a massive quest, but getting the film to work? That was commendable and for that, we (as action fans) salute you. The fighting was awesome, the knife throwing was cool and Terry Crews was very funny. But wasn't it missing something? We've all the heard the stories that you tried to entice Seagal and Van Damme but...didn't you miss a few people?

Do you wanna know what we want? We want more guns, we want more blood and we want another great movie. We want another all star cast and we want Jet Li fighting more big guys! But who would you recruit? The fact that you have a whole list of people and ended up with Eric Roberts, David Zayas, Stone Cold and that English martial arts geezer shows us that you didn't try hard enough.

But none of that matters, because theres always room for a sequel...and there's always room for new stars. Lets make this into a Mad Max sequel or a Terminator sequel and top the first one by a mile. Here's a list of men for you to consider being baddies, giving them cameos or just appearing in the movie for a split second so that film lovers like me can wet our pants with excitement.

Bruce Willis

I know he was in the first one but that talk he gave Sly was great! "Only thing you need to know is the job's real, and the money's real." He reminded me of a total badass, some kind of mastermind. And yeah, Sly himself has said that he wants Bruce back as the master villain. In my opinion, that'd be great. I know the guys old, but he's still coming in movies and he can still kick ass (hello die hard 4). Brucey would make this film great as the master behind some big cocaine or heroin deal, or just a simple man dealing arms to a small african country? Mr Church is fucking great.

Mel Gibson

I think everybodys forgotten this old geezer. Could he possibly be doing a deal with Bruce Willis? The two of them in a movie toghether? Lethal Weapon and Die Hard in one room? It's the thing dreams are made of. Mel Gibson may be old and controversial, but he'd make a damn good baddie if he wanted to. If not that, why doesn't Sly cast him as a cop? Bring back that crazy Martin Riggs character and everybody'll be happy.

Vin Diesel

They needed more muscle in the first movie and in my opinion, Stone Cold did an allright job. But it could've been better. Coming up against Sly, Statham, Li and a UFC fighter isn't easy and Mr Austin wasn't really able to handle all of them. Vin Diesel on the other hand might do the job.

Dwayne Johnson (The Rock)

I know he's coming in The Fast and Furious 5 with Vin Diesel but if these two teamed up against Sly and his boys, it'd be an epic fight. The Rock is definately the most well known wrestler after Hulk Hogan and he's still young. Get him now!

Steven Seagal

I mean, it's not like hes doing much. Seagal needs to stop making rubbish straight to video films and make an appearance! I'm looking forward to seeing him in Machete, but this movie was made for him! We haven't seen Seagal do anything worthwile since he fought Tommy Lee Jones in Under Seige and it's about time he made a comeback! Better late then never...

Jean Claude Van Damme

Ahh...the French. Come on Mr Van Damme. If you come in this movie, we'll all love you again...promise!

Kimbo Slice

Everybodys casting UFC fighters in movies. Randy Couture has already made an appearance, Rampage Jackson as B.A, now we need Kimbo in this movie. If you don't know who he is, he used to be a street fighter. Moved to the UFC and now everybody's realised he sucks at mixed martial arts. Kimbo Slice is one scary guy and he already has some acting experience (Blood and Bone) and I reckon Statham would have a hard time dealing with him.

Honourable Mentions

Jackie Chan?
Al Pacino?
Hulk Hogan?
Kurt Russell?
Antonio Banderas?
Mr T?
Bigger role for Arnie?

I cannot believe they were able to make this movie as the egos of all these guys would seem to make it improbable. The fact that they concocted a plot that pleased each was another surprising feat. I cannot imagine everyone being happy with the fraction of screen time afforded.

Weird how Dwayne Johnson is not spelt 'Dwyane' like it is for my hero: D-WAD3

Loved the movie, but certainly thought there were a few missing. I think it would be great for a sequel to feature most (if not all, in some form) of the actors you've mentioned. I'm sure it would be an instant sell!
